The Wellbeing Solution

The most effective and resourceful route to creating and sustaining
a culture of happiness and health.

Right now is an opportunity of a generation.

One where individuals, schools and organisations can create an engaged learning environment in which people can flourish.

We have had enough of being down, this is our time to rise.

Many will jump in and say that we need to produce a greater number of ‘things’ to solve this mental health crisis. They will say that we need to invest in more books, journals, videos, books and so on but is that what will help?

Yes, it is what we have always done, but does that make it beneficial?

In a society with an abundance of resources, we must become more resourceful.

We have opportunities that our previous generations worked so hard for. Yet, our society is the most medicated, in-debt, obese and vulnerable society that has lived?

It is heart-breaking.

Our mental health, physical health and overall wellbeing has been on a sharp decline in recent years.

The current system of ‘waiting for individuals to show signs of metal and physical ill-health and then fixing them’ is, at best, an exceptionally expensive and ineffective way of tackling the problem. Yet, we continue because of the moral argument; ‘if an intervention can save just one individual then it is deemed worthwhile’. Our morality needs channelling in a healthier, more inclusive direction.

The system we have inherited has not been built to create and sustain a culture of wellbeing.

Enough is enough.

We are the ones shaping the world and it is our obligation to create a better (healthier and happier) world.

It is time to prioritise the wellbeing needs of our people.

The key questions therefore become; how can we move proactive, progressive, and preventative measures from the edge to the centre? And how can we stop people becoming mentally unwell in the first place? The answer is surprisingly simple. A focus on wellbeing.

If we want schools, businesses and society as a whole to produce well qualified people who are confident, kind, positive, resilient, creative, engaged and inspired, they need to be taught how. In short, people need an environment that equips them for the fast-paced world as it is.

The responsibility is ours to exemplify for others to document their own progress, charting their strengths, areas to improve, growth, purpose, goals, successes and key learnings from failure.

Most people don’t need saving or fixing (yet!). They need empowering and equipping. Empowering our people take charge of their own mental health and equipping them to live flourishing lives that contribute to happy communities is worth billions to the economy. Factor in the savings to the health service and public sector and it amounts to trillions.

Wellbeing is the solution and together we can create a happier and healthier world.

Thank you for reading this with either an open mind and heart.

I would be delighted to hear your thoughts on how we can collaborate to contribute to your vision of wellbeing for yourself, your school or business.
